This RLC has a commitment to Local Action with Compassion.
Communitas is Latin for "community" and signifies a sense of fellowship or partnership and reflection on that characteristic. This RLC explores the role of the individual as a member of a group and the tension between an individual's rights and his or her responsibilities to the group's goals. Communitas strives to provide opportunities for community-based learning, civic engagement, and for exploring local ways to make a difference; thus our tag-line "Local Action with Compassion."

The Communitas Statement of Inclusive Excellence
"The Communitas RLC will strive to create and become a community that is inclusive for any and all people regardless of age, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, ability, religion, body image, and belief system. We as a community will not tolerate hateful talk or actions and will hold each other accountable in our pursuits of Inclusion and Unity within our COMMUNITY.
"Communitas will be a place where listening will take priority in conversation. Out of that will come understanding, positive/educational dialogue, and appreciation, not just tolerance for each other's unique traits and lifestyles.
"Communitas members will actively, intentionally, and continuously engage each other in both Bellarmine and Campisi Halls in a discussion and celebration of our distinct and incredible differences with the goal to find a connection and feel like Communitas is our home and not just two buildings."
